About Us

Hunter Animal Hospital was established in 1992, to serve clients and their pets, mainly in the West Valley area.  At that time, one doctor and one staff member handled all the phone calls, appointments and procedures. Over the next several years, clients began coming from all over the Salt Lake Valley, as well as Tooele County. The practice outgrew its original location and in 2005 we moved into our new state of the art building, allowing us to expand services even further.  Today, Hunter Animal Hospital has 6 veterinarians and adequate support staff to serve the needs of our clients and their beloved pets.

Our goal is to provide the best possible veterinary medical care for dogs and cats at a reasonable cost.  For more information about the services we offer, please click on the links below:

  • Preventive Health Care Programs: examinations, vaccinations, dental services, parasite control, nutritional counseling, and geriatric health care programs.
  • Internal Medicine:  We have multiple doctors on staff able to diagnose, treat and manage your pets’ medical conditions.
  • Dentistry: Dental disease is one of the most under-diagnosed conditions affecting our companion animals’ well-being.  Our dental services include teeth cleaning, scaling and polishing, dental x-rays, tooth extractions and oral surgery.
  • Diagnostic Services: Our hospital is equipped with modern technology, including X-ray, ultrasound, endoscopy and in-house laboratory.
  • Surgical Services: Our state-of-the-art surgical suite provides for the performance of a wide variety of general and advanced surgical procedures, including orthopedic surgery.
  • Anesthesia: We utilize the safest available anesthetics to provide that extra margin of safety, especially for our older or high-risk patients. We have veterinary technicians with advanced training in patient care, anesthesia, pain control and dentistry. Using the most modern equipment, the patient's vital signs are monitored during all anesthetic procedures.
  • Laboratory: Our in-house laboratory facilities provide for serum chemistry, hematology, serology, urinalysis and parasite testing.
  • Pharmacy: We maintain a complete inventory of pharmaceuticals, flea, tick and heartworm preventatives to meet the needs of your pet.
  • Nutrition and Dietary Counseling: We will provide guidance and counseling regarding your pet’s nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight maintenance and performance.
  • Oncology:  We offer cancer care services ranging from surgery to different chemotherapy protocols.
